In this episode I provide the history of the Chevrolet Avalanche and its unexpected Cadillac twin, the Escalade EXT. Both pickup trucks started in the 2002 model year, and were based on the Chevy Suburban platform, and had a "midgate" between the bed and cab that allowed for the bed to be extended into the cab, but could remain fully enclosed with its removable bed cover. Despite lower sales and the great recession, a second generation for both trucks began in 2007, but dwindling sales forced their end by 2013. This wouldn't be the last time GM would have a midgate, as it was also in the GMC Envoy XUV, the Hummer H2 SUT, and today it is in the Chevy Silverado EV.

Henry Ford being both one of best and one of the worst is true. He built Ford and almost destroyed it too. Notice how most of the worst are in modern history. Many of the best are from a bygone era. Quality leadership is in short supply these days. Greed is prevalent. Barra will join this list soon. Eaton also deserves his place here.

A BigFoot ranger? So cute! Never saw many of those pintos around the PNW (they all must have rusted out by the 90s), to the point where I'm almost surprised, and kind of sad, especially for all the cool appearance packages.. How cool would it have been if they were made better, and other, smaller american cars like the Gremlin etc caught on..

These were the precursor to today's "pickup trucks"..... little cargo space, but limousine interiors with every possible luxury feature. The only difference is they were priced considerably less.

Had a 2004 Z71 Avalanche in Arrival Blue with the cladding. Was a fantastic truck. Worked really well with the extended bed created by folding the rear seat down. Sold it before the body could rust out underneath the cladding.
